Pictures in the Life of Diane

Through the eyes and little camera of diane! Mostly pictures of Korean bands and the scene with a twist of my student and a splash of randomness. I must say that its makes a nice cocktail.

BBLT at Charity Show at DGBD(Jan27)

I only went to drop off some jackets and scarves for the needy. I caught the last song of BB Lucky Town then headed to Skunk for the show there. I was really happy to see a huge turnout at the charity show and I am flabbergasted about all the stuff that was donated. :0) I agree with alot of people about the possibility of more charity shows in Korea just because of the success of For the Dogs and Beat The Cold!

I have a question that I hope that you all can help me answer. I know that I am still learning about photography and I really want to know. I many want to take pictures that are clear and sharp but because I am photographing musicians on stage is it better to go with a slower shutter speed so that you also can get the movement of the subject? But its blurry. I am not sure and I hope that you all can give me your imput on this. That is the reason I took some pictures with a flash and some with a slower shutter speed? Which is better and can you tell me why... Thanks for all your help!!

Since you are taking pics is a relatively dark place a flash is necessary or the picture will blur.
The slower the shutter speed the blurier (is that a word?) the pic.
If you have a camera that has aperature settings(F-stop, F4.0, F5.6...), set it to the lowest(F3.2, the lower the F-stop the larger the aperture so the lens lets in more light) F-stop and faster shutter speed. But you have to remember the subject has remain fairly still. If the pic is still to dark, set the ISO to 400 or higher (the higher the ISO the faster the film speed, which good for action shots). Good luck with you shooting.

I've been reading your blog since I found the link through Jonathan's site via Jon Dunbar's. Great pictures of the bands. I am glad you update regularly.
